Chris Wellin is a sociologist with interests in social gerontology, work and occupations, and qualitative methods of social research. He has had special interests in the study of paid caregiving for those who are older and/or face disability, in order to advocate for better working conditions and compensation in the spirit of public sociology. He is also a musician, songwriter and arranger, who continues to release music under the rubric of "Whispering Campaign." An associate professor of sociology at Illinois State University, Wellin has won recognition for his teaching and community service.
